A day trip to Goriška Brda and Kobarid from Trieste, Koper or Postojna.
A one-day trip for lovers of wine, gastronomy and beautiful nature with views of the wine hills, the Julian Alps and the Soča river.
The route will take us to the historic town of Kobarid located in the picturesque Soča Valley of Slovenia, offers a blend of natural beauty, historical significance, and outdoor activities.
Beautiful Kozjak waterfall is awaiting for us and a walk over the suspension bridge above the Soča river (a short but not too difficult hike). We will make a stop at the Italian ossuary above Kobarid – a WW 1 monument and war memorial built by Benito Mussolini after the WW 2. Possibility to visit the WW 1 museum (self-guided or guided tour).
If we are in Kobarid when the local market is open, than there is a chance of buying excellent cow’s cheese or local honey. We recommend linden honey.
Our next stop will be the UNESCO pearl – Italian Cividale. A walk through streets until the Devil’s bridge with a beautiful view of the old town. Time for a good italian espresso or Aperol.
Our last stop – Goriška Brda. A sun kissed landscape and home to excellent winemakers such as Edi Simčič, Klinec, Marjan Simčič, Reia, Movia and many others. Due to the Mediterranean and Alpine climate their wines definitely have character. This is the land of fruit, olives, friendly and hardworking people. Therefore, a stop for a glass of wine will be mandatory We will also visit the typical village of Šmartno with views of the distant Alps in Italy.
A stop for lunch or snack is a must. Of course something local and good We agree on the way…
