Although the Soča valley seems far from Trieste, it is not a long drive. We will drive in the direction of the hilly wine landscape, emerald Soča and the Julian Alps. Along the way we make stops to take photos and learn about local stories. We will write about nature later because in the Soča valley it is really exceptional and pristine.
We start our day trip to Soča valley from Trieste in the morning with a drive in the direction of town Nova Gorica, passing the charming town of Kanal ob Soči with a bridge from where jumps into the cold Soča river take place every summer.
Our next stop will be Kobarid with the famous Napoleon bridge and the Kozjak waterfall. We will walk across one of the longer suspension bridges over the Soča. This part takes a short – easy hike / walk.
The local dairy Planika is located in Kobarid and here you can buy excellent cow’s cheese or linden honey. Two typical products of the Soča valley. Possibility of visiting the WW1 Kobarid Museum (self-guided or guided tour).
We will then continue our journey in the direction of Bovec with a stop below the Boka waterfall. After a few kilometers of driving we will enter the valley of the Trenta and Triglav National Park. Visiting big Soča gorge and the Lepena valley which is famous for fly fishing. There will also be time for lunch or a snack. Of course something local On the way back home, if time permits, we will stop at the UNESCO pearl of italian Cividale or instead of this for a glass of wine in beautiful wine region called Goriška Brda. We will adapt the trip to your wishes and interests. We are flexible. That’s the beauty of individual tours.
Return to Trieste in the evening.
