Join as for a fascinating experience to discover the underground world of one of the oldest mercury mines under the UNESCO heritage. Hear the stories from the local guide about the history of mercury mining as you descend into the mine. We will continue the visit in the Gewerkenegg Castle and admire the large collection of Idrija lace. In Idrija we’ll have lunch and taste the famous local dish called Idrijski žlikrofi (dumplings). In Most na Soči we’ll have a short stop and a nice walk on the shores of the artificial lake which was created by the Soča river.

Day trip to Postojna cave and Predjama castle from the Soča valley, Bled or Trieste.
Postojna cave (Slovene: Postojnska jama) is one of the most famous and spectacular karst caves in the world located in SW Slovenia. It is renowned for its vast underground chambers, intricate formations and a unique subterranean ecosystem. The guided tour in the cave is at least around 1,5h. The ticket to enter the cave must be bought in advance on-line.
Our next stop will be Predjama castle – the largest castle in the world built in the cave with unique architecture and history. Located just a short distance from Postojna Cave.
We will end our tour in the wine region of Karst with a stop in a beautiful village of Štanjel – one of the oldest settlements in the Karst, The castle complex, the defence walls, the Church of St. Daniel and the Ferrari Garden are the best recognisable architectural heritage. On request we can also organize a wine tasting in Karst or Vipava valley region.
On the way back to the Soča valley we will do a stop over in Kanal ob Soči with his famous bridge over the Soča river.
