Join us on this day trip to Karst and the Slovenian coast. Discover the beauty of the medieval town of Piran, Lipica stud farm and UNESCO pearl of Škocjan caves.
Our first stop on the way to the seaside is gonna be the Škocjan cave. A UNESCO world heritage site with the largest underground canyons in the world. Walking through these caves is truly spectacular, with breathtaking caverns and rushing underground river. Guided tour takes around 2 hours and tickets must be bought in advance on their on-line platform.
Our second stop is Lipica Stud Farm which is the cradle of the Lipizzaners – the noble white horses. Breeding began 400 years ago to meet the exclusive needs and demands of the Habsburgs. You will see the whole array of magnificent animals and amazing figures of the Spanish Riding School. The excellence of the Lipizzaners can be admired at their show.
After the visit in Lipica we drive to the coast. The most attractive town is Piran – our favourite place with its Venetian-gothic architecture. Famous for the salt production on the nearby still existing salt-pans, where Slovenia gets the majority of salt even today. Our stops: central square where the birth house of the maestro Tartini is. Church of St. George with its Venetian-like bell tower to admire the view over the wonderful mosaic of roofs, streets, and squares with the stunning backdrop of the bay. You’ll have time for coffee, lunch or a walk.
If returning to the Soča valley we will drive back passing the town of Trieste.
Departure locations: Bovec, Kobarid, Tolmin, Bled. Other towns on request.
Best time to travel: All year around (July, August are busy months).
Duration of the trip: Full day (up to 8h or more).
